I remember during college, one of the courses I’m considering at that time was HRM (Hotel and Restaurant Management) because I wanna become the chef of my own restaurant. I also dreamt of becoming a barista, bartender, and a flairtender. But I think it’s not really meant for me. It’s for my brother’s. Yes, he’s the one taking it right now. Once again, I shared this experience to him so he'll get an idea once he will be taking his bartending subject.
To give you a background, flairtending is a performance art that features flamboyant bartenders who flip, throw, and juggle liquor bottles in the air, and oftentimes even dance to pulsating beats and perform close-up magic tricks.
The difference of Frenzy's UFlair from all my flairtending events is that Frenzy and GSM Blue asked the contestants to come up with tangiest drinks with the inclusion of a ‘secret ingredient’ that is only revealed during the competition.
With the wits, drink mixing skills, flips, and tricks of the 12 promising young finalists from different universities, the second round eliminations really doubled-up the intensity of the competition.
The best from the 12 rest who brought home 5,000 pesos were Arianne Santos from Sienna College - Taytay, Bobby Jenrick Ponce from Our Lady of Fatima - Valenzuela, Samuel Alcantara Jr. from PUP - Sta. Mesa, and Dominique Palileo from University of Perpetual Help System - Biñan.
A race for popularity is also conducted every elimination round that brings more excitement to the participants as well as to their supporters. This time, the popular choice award was given to Jochris Forloso of National College of Business and Arts, bringing home 10,000 pesos.
“The overflowing talents shown on the second round for UFlair made us more excited for the last round on August 17, 2011”, said Norman Campoy, Product Manager of Frenzy Condoms. “The UFlair spirit is so high and the fun will definitely roll towards the finals”, he adds.
The 12 UFlair finalists will battle for special awards, gift packs, portabar and a cash prize with a total worth of 20,000 pesos in the finals round on September 7, 2011 at Dolce Super Club while the runners up will receive trophies and cash prizes up to 15,000 pesos.
The final round will be thoroughly assessed by experts in bartending and flairing, which are Philippe Bartholomi, Diogenes Jaurigue, Joseph Apostol, and Dennis Dungca. Mr. Campoy will also take part in judging to search for the individual that would best represent the product.
Frenzy’s Uflair is supported by the philippinebartending.com, GSM Blue, Icon Ultimate Club and Dolce Super Club.
