UNO Magazine: Human Nature Photography Exhibit Benefits Manila Shrine Club

UNO Magazine together with MAKE UP FOR EVER invited the bloggers to have a sneak peak on what will happen on October 7, 2011 for UNO's Human Nature Photography Fashion Show at Genting Club, Resorts World.

I arrived late for this preview so I was not able to see it from scratch.  The two makeup artists were almost done on the models left side.  But still, I was amazed.  WOW!  A human canvass.  The model portrays a sea creature.  Detail by detail, I was really a witness on how painstakingly the model and the makeup artists go together for this human masterpiece.

Why did I only show half?  Well, dear readers, come this October 7, as I said, UNO will reveal the human nature masterpiece.

The event will showcase the photographs of GT Toledo, president of IlustradosPH, a group of young photographers, stylists, make-up artists and the like, zeroing in on the basic elements of nature: Earth, Wind, Fire, Water. These photographs will then be brought to life by make up artists of MAKE UP FOR EVER through body painting. The show promises to be an extravaganza of Filipino ingenuity through art.

This is also a fundraising event supported by the Manila Shrine Club for the benefit of burned and crippled children. The Manila Shrine Club supports children up to 18 years old with orthopedic conditions, burns, spinal cord injuries and cleft palate.

FASHION WATCH QUARTET 2011 Showcasing Philippines Top 20 Designers

April 2011 marks the the revival of Fashion Watch Quartet and  I got the chance to watch the the much-awaited series at Makati Shangri-La Hotel last April 28, 2011.

Fashion Watch Quartet continues to bring to the forefront fresh new talented designers through an exciting fashion event.

During the first week of the Fashion Watch 2011, Len Nepomuceno, a Filipino fashion designer who specializes in bridal gowns and evening wear currently the Vice-President of the prestigious Fashion and Design Council of the Philippines (FDCP) was the first one to showcase her creations.

Len Nepomuceno, designer

Len is one of the few top designers that were commissioned to create fashions for the iconic Barbie doll to raise funds for a Ballet Philippines auction for the benefit of their scholars. Len’s collection for Fashion Watch is about the early start of spring, where colors are starting to change from heavy fall-winter to light and airy spring-summer. Her design inspiration is NEW BEGINNINGS with colors such as honeysuckle for lifting spirits, peony as a romantic attachment and silver clouds for quintessential classics.

Fashion Watch 2011 is a project of the CFDP (Council of Fashion Designers of the Philippines). It will run from April to November, 2011. Each week will feature the collection of two designers in back-to-back format, who will have his/her creations unveiled to all through a fashion show held at the lobby area of the prestigious Shangri-La Makati Hotel.  (Please see below for schedules.)

The series will feature 19 of the country’s most notable designers, each showcasing a brand new collection. Each designer is exclusive to Fashion Watch Quartet; you won’t see their collections on any other fashion show series. Every designer will showcase their Holiday collection early on in the year and a Spring/Summer collection towards the latter part of the year, much like fashion timetables abroad.

Fashion Watch Quartet will also stage special shows as several internationally known ASEAN designers will be flown in to display their creations to the Filipino public.
Besides an A-list roster of designers, models, and media partners The Philippine Star, Preview, StyleBible, and StarWorld, Fashion Watch Quartet boasts of industry greats working behind-the-scenes as well, including Patrick Rosas and team as the force behind hair and makeup, Grace Molina as Project Coordinator and Director and Manila’s Prince of Fashion himself, Inno Sotto as Creative Director .

As Fashion Watch Quartet makes its comeback, it continues to raise the bar for how today’s fashion show series should be.

Experience another season of unrestrained creativity with Fashion Watch 2011 featuring designs from celebrated Flipino designers.

Dockers' Spring and Summer Collection 2011

Before Feb ends, Dockers invited me to their Spring/Summer Collection 2011 at the Manila Yacht Club.  I am very happy because I can share the collection to my dad as he really "wears the pants".

Not only that, I was surprised when I saw that one of Dockers' "media men" models was my former boss, Sir GJ (he is now with Manila Bulletin).  Dockers preselected media men to wear their newest collection together with the Dockers models.

Small world, huh?

Now, let's go back to the Dockers newest line of clothes, pants, shirts, even slippers and fedora hats!

CARGO, WORRY FREE, WORK, and CASUAL.  The new collection revolves in these four areas, where guys really excel.

Dockers khaki redefines fit, color and finish with new collection and Dockers has defined khaki pants for more than 20 years.

The new collection is more masculine, yet continues to provide the flexibility to move from work to play with relative ease. It is reworked, restyled, refinished – embracing heritage and function but works for the modern man. It reflects Dockers current communication campaign ‘Wear The Pants’, calling on all men to ‘man up’.

Definitely more masculine, it echoes Dockers commitment to making khaki an essential and much–loved item in the modern man’s wardrobe. It provides the consumer with a range of choices in fit, color and finish.

Fitting New Collection
The collection features the K1 Khaki and D1 Slim Fit, giving consumers the ‘best range of options’ when fitting into their choice of Dockers khaki.
The K1 Khaki is Dockers premium expression of khaki. It showcases tailoring details that include a full waistband curtain and bound set and out seams. It uses real Corozo buttons, shifted back side seam for more authenticity.
D1 Slim Fit is a more streamlined approached to khaki. This is a slim, tailored fit for today’s highly skilled man. It sits slightly below the waist and remains slim through the seat and thigh.
These garments employ Amhot, Byrd Cloth and soft khaki fabrics for the most authentic look and feel. The fabrics tie directly to the history of khaki, and also to Dockers own brand history.

Manly Colors

Whether aiming to dress up or to dress down, every man needs color in his wardrobe. Taking cues from the textured neutral base of the desert, Dockers khaki created a foundation of khaki accented by the crystal blue sky. Adding more color depth to the collection, industrial colors of farm equipment and pick-up trucks are referred to, celebrating the purity of these primary American hues.

Finished to Perfection

Dockers khaki is simply finished to perfection, loved and worn right from the start. It finishes in a range of neutrals, with fabrics that are textured and with that ‘lived-in’ feel. Adding more range to the selection, it has industrial staining, sun-bleached, time worn, damaged and repurposed finishes.“With this new collection, we believe that the khaki category will definitely see a resurgence in popularity.

The introduction of new fits, color and finishes, the collection will certainly appeal to the modern man and make them fall in love with khakis again,” said Bobet Romualdo, ASEAN Brand Director, Dockers brand. “We are aiming to make Dockers khaki the best and most-loved khaki brand in the world, and this new collection is a clear testament to that.”
