Dali Restaurante y Bar de Tapas: A Touch of Spain in Quezon City

When bloggers cover stories, we can feature different sides other than the event itself.  We can blog about the prominent personalities present in the event, the venue, and of course, the food.

During the launch of NOVUHAIR with its new endorser, Fanny Serrano, we were taken to the very romantic, scenic Dali Restaurante y Bar de Tapas.  My first impression upon entering the wooden door and then the glass door (yes, two doors in a row as you enter) is how different it looks from the inside -- it's like you're nowhere near Quezon City.

With its floor-to-ceiling windows, brick walls, wooden furniture, and framed paintings, you'll instantly be reminded of telenovelas from Spain.

Its sumptuous repertoire of Castilian-inspired dishes like paella entice many a palate of working professionals at noon and came nightfall, the restuarant is filled with employees, groups of friends, and residents around Quezon City who drop by for a few glasses of wine as there is a wine lounge where you can enjoy superb selection of cocktails and wine.  And a visit to Dali Restaurante y Bar de Tapas is not complete with the bite-size appetizers or "tapas".

We were served buffet style so I do not have photos of the actual servings.

I sinked my teeth into fresh oversized chicken slices called Pollo con Perijil y Pimientos and the buttered fish fillet that goes well with the green pesto sauce.

I enjoyed the timeless food favorite, Dali's Paella Valenciana.

And one of the tapas I tried was the croquettas that is small but big in flavor.

And to cap it off, freshly-made churros with chocolate dip for a complete Spanish experience.

Its high-end Spanish ambience also makes it the latest place for corporate meetings, launch (just like what NOVUHAIR did), and business or family affairs.

Ang cute ng newest TVC ng Mister Donut 'di ba?

Angel's Pizza: Too Good Too Deny Lenten Pizza Pies

Last Wednesday, we just celebrated Ash Wednesday and we all know that this spearheads the 40 days of Lenten season.  For some Catholics it means 40 days of praying and fasting.

Fasting?  Meaning no meat?  No chicken?  Well, yes.

But good thing 'cause last February, one of my newest favorite pizza chains has already offered their Lenten Specials.

I started first with the thinnest.  Yeah, 'cause I know there are more pizzas to come.  I first tried Shrimp Pesto.  (This pizza is really for the health buffs).  Hey, health buffs out there this is the pizza for you, guys!

And oh, here's something cute.  Have you noticed my pizza holder?

Another unique thing at Angel's Pizza is their pizza dip.  Sour cream goes well with the Shrimp Pesto flavored pizza.

Next in line is one of Angel's newest baby, CALZONE!  It's like a big empanada packed with all the flavors I love.  And as part of their Lenten Specials, they came up with Tuna Pesto Calzone.  Tried dipping it in tangy tomato and it's perfect!  And it's only P55!  Very affordable.

I also like Ham, Beef & Mushroom calzone and BBQ chicken Calzone.  I was surprised when I heard that Angel's Calzones are served in selected international flights of Philippine Airlines.  It really deserves a place in PAL's menu.

And of course, the STAR of Angel's Pizzas Lenten Specials, PASTA IN A DOUGH (Tuna Pesto)!  Pasta and pizza in one.

Waaahhh!!! It is really heavy on my stomach!  You can eat it in two ways.  You can just slice and eat it just like your usual pizza.

Or you can use a fork to get the pasta first then the dough.

But I wish they can also serve a thin-crust Pasta in a Dough.  What do you think?

Look how creative Angel's Pizza is!  That's why I love Angel's Pizza.  They are chic and prizes are cheap!  They also have the following promos, guys!  Lenten Season is lonely no more .  We can still eat pizza!

Ibayo by Barrio Fiesta: A Fresh Catch

Hey, yuppies! Thinking of going out this weekend for a scrumptious seafood meal and after-dinner drinks?  Well, here's a nice catch.

The recently opened Ibayo at San Miguel by the Bay is a refreshing sight amidst the other restobar giants hogging the leisure strip by the bay.  As its name -- Ibayo, meaning "the next town" or "on the other side of", it is an alternative destination to seaside's famous "paluto" restaurants.

Upon entering, you'll be adorned with bright colored paintings on the wall, Filipino-inspired wooden interiors and comfortable seats that could very well represent classic but chic Filipino dining experience.

While there is a wide choice of familiar Barrio Fiesta dishes to choose from such as the best-seller Crispy Pata and the famous Mama Chit'sSpecials, the menu is highlighted by the Ibayo signature dishes including Ibayo White Adobo, Ibayo Crispy Catfish and Ibayo Firesticks.

Save room for dessert! Turon ala Mode, Putubungbong and the creamy, soft Maja Blanca works well with Ibayo's fresh fruit juices and shakes.

And to complete the Ibayo experience, it is highly recommended for one to try the Ibayo signature cocktail drinks.  Most interesting are the Ibayo Sunset, Skywalker, Two Alpha and Mango Bongo.  A bar chow menu including reinvented Filipino favorites like Inihaw na Liempo, Grilled Tuna Belly, Sizzling Mushrooms, Pork Barbeque and Sizzling Corn that will definitely satisfy your short cravings are also available.

This modern bistro style restaurant was put to life by the third generation members of Barrio Fiesta, brothers Tyrone and Tristan Ongpauco.

If you have a hard time choosing from the merry mix of flavors, the best suggestion would be to bring friends... and then you can share.

Thank you very much for the Ibayo experience Ms. Abby, Sir Artie, Mark Gosingtian, and the Ongpauco brothers.  Not only did I get to savor Ibayo's delectable dishes but also I did met the famous food bloggers whom I look up to. (",)

Resto Pino Bar: From a Winner's Point of Review

The Chic

Resto Pino Bar is a one-stop spot in Teacher's Village, Quezon City where you can wine and dine.  Pino is also known for the interesting and inventive Filipino dishes it serves.  We ordered two of Pino Favorites.

I ate Kare-Kareng Bagnet.  It is an authentic Ilocano crispy pork belly served with Annatto-Peanut Sauce and Bagoong Rice.  I recommend to eat the skin first so it won't have a gummy texture once you eat it and for you to experience the crispiness.

My friend's order was the Red Wine Adobong Tadyang.  It is an adobo ribs with red wine twist with steamed rice.  The meat is tender and the wine gives a little kick.

The Cheap

Kare-Kareng Bagnet = P245
Red Winer Adobong Tadyang = P210

I still have P200 left from my winnings so I decided to keep it and go back to this easygoing hangout spot to try Pino's Chunky Choco Tempura.  I heard that you can bring your own fave chocolate bar and they'll deep fry it for you.  Whoah, can't wait to dine at Resto Pino Bar again.

As I said on my previous post, I'm thanking Webby of Trip Ko Lang for giving me the Resto Pino Bar GCs.  Because of her blog anniversary contest, I was able to dine and review Resto Pino Bar.

Again, thanks Webby for this wonderful experience!

Read here how I got to review Pino Bar:

Gonuts Donuts' Eskimo Roll

The Chic

Everybody loves vanilla ice cream and you'll love it more once you've tried Gonuts Donuts' Eskimo Roll.  Munch on Eskimo Rolls made of a scoop of heavenly cold vanilla ice cream tucked in two pieces of chewy chip cookies.

I ordered one at Gonuts Donuts South Super Highway after work as I wanted to eat something cold, fudgy and yummy.  I thought of eating a sundae but saw the ads of Eskimo Rolls on Facebook earlier that day, so I shifted to it.  I'm happy that I did.  I just hope it is a bit bigger though, hahaha.

This is really perfect to beat your sweet merienda cravings!!!

The Cheap

Grab loads of Eskimo Roll on your nearest Gonuts Donuts Store for only P29.
