Binondo Food Wok Part 5: Friendship

This is the best part, I met friends from different walks of blog (life). To Dom, Doc Gelo, Chyng, Cher, Joshua and Archie, I thank you guys for making this Binondo Food Wok so nice for me. It's my first time in Binondo and first time to join group of bloggers but never felt that I do not belong to the group.

Kuya Dom, thanks for the souvenir as a remembrance for my first time in Chinatown and in celebration of our group's camaraderie.

Additional Notes:

This was really a surprise. We met the master of the map, Ivan Man Dy of Old Manila Walks in New Po-Heng Lumpia House while having his Binondo Tour.

Dong and Chyng also introduced as to Tutubi of Backpacking Philippines and Asia. WOW!

Binondo Food Wok Part 4: Temples, Buddhas & A Church

As we entered Ongpin St., I had the first glimpse on Binondo Church. I looked at the BIG Binondo Food Wok Map and I found out that its real name is Basilica Menor del San Lorenzo.

After eating at Dong Bei Dumplings, we went to Santo Cristo de Longos. It is a small shrine in one corner where people from all walks of life, Chinese or Catholics, pray with incense sticks.

Our first temple stop is the Te Ya Kong Temple. Red lighted candles and free hot tea drinks welcomed us as we came to the temple, and big buddhas, incense sticks, offerings and praying Chinese people were found inside. I know nothing about this temple but I'm really amzed on the town people's faith.

The most solemn temple of them all, Seng Guan Si Temple. We've got to see golden buddhas which represents health, prosperity, etc. The Big Binondo Food Wok Map says it is the largest Buddisht temple in town.

Binondo Food Wok Part 1: Intro to Dong Ho's Invitation

I was one of the chosen ones of Dom of Dong Ho's Eskapo to join the fun DIY food walking tour at Binondo. I told him I haven't really gone to Binondo, and I haven't really, that's why I joined his contest.

It's been almost a month and a half after our exploration of Chinatown District in Manila and still I heard some bloggers during blog events that they envy those who joined the food trip with Dong Ho. I gladly raise my hand and say, "I'm one of the trippers. I'm not known in the blogosphere. And I think that's why they don't recognize me on Dong Ho's Binondo Food Wok Series, hehe.

As an introduction to my own version of the series, Archie and I went to Manila Post Office, as our meeting place for the said tour. We met Dom, Doc Gelo, Cher, Chyng and Josh. Dom told us why he chose us and then he gave each one of us the Big Binondo Food Wok Map, the ultimate food and culture guide to Chinatown.

And then the journey starts at the second post...

To be continued...
